University is supposedly stressful and full of work and tests and all that fun stuff. Now, imagine your university being haunted on top of all that stress and work. That's just wonderful, right? The story behind the haunting of the women's dorms started with two senior girls named Kang Ji Hyun and Lee So Yeon. The two girls were having it rough before their deaths. They both complained about nightmares and not being able to sleep. Then, they started getting harassed by a strange man on campus. So Yeon even came to their dorm one night with her dress torn and shaken. Eventually, they became so afraid that they stopped going to class. They stopped eating. They even stopped showering. They kept saying, "The man is watching us in the bathroom," but why nobody cared to help them or even tell the police about this is beyond me. They eventually died October 19, 1999. Shortly after the two girls were buried, strange things began to happen. The lights sometimes exploded and doorknobs would be turned from the outside and doors would be knocked on, but there would never be anyone outside. Eventually, there were even sightings. People would see two unkempt girls at night asking why there were people in their dorm. They claimed to be Ji Hyun and So Yeon. Some believe that the two girls won't be able to rest until the strange man is captured. I'd say the moral of this story is to not keep something serious to yourself, and go to the police if necessary. It seems like Ji Hyun and So Yeon may not have gone to the police for this matter, and this may have been prevented if they did.

North of Seoul city in South Korea is a highway called Jayuro. As you can tell by the title, this post will focus on a ghost that appears on Jayuro. The highway Jayuro is known for accidents and its' heavy fog, but some believe that the causes for the accidents are far more sinister than mere fog. People have reported seeing a hitchhiking woman on the side of the highway wearing what looked like to be sunglasses. As they get closer, they eventually realize that they were terribly wrong. The woman isn't wearing sunglasses- she has no eyes. Her eyes are gouged out and in their place are hollow, dark holes. Scared out of their wits, the drivers who see her up close usually flee from the scene. The story behind this strange and mysterious figure remains unknown. There seems to be a few urban legends surrounding taxis/hitchhikers, so I think I'll leave this moral simple; be careful about whether or not you should pick some strange hitchhiker up.
In Korea, academics matter. Like, a lot. Often times, parents pressure their child to study and get really good grades. Some students study so late that they end up falling asleep in class the next day. Yikes. That's not very good. Since we're on the subject, I'm going to do this blog post a little differently and just say the moral right now. Don't overwork yourself. Ever.
Anyways, back to the urban legend. This gruesome tale starts with a girl named Sun-Hi studying very late at night with her friends in the school library. The school was dark, so the only lights that were on were the lights in the library. A little eerie, sure, but it's nothing that'll cause harm, right? After a lot of studying, Sun-Hi had to go tinkle and made her way towards the bathroom. Meanwhile, while Sun-Hi was doing her business, the students noticed a strange, yet faint tapping sound that came from the library window. Outside was a pale and gaunt woman, her eyes tightly shut and her face pressed against the window as her bony and pale finger tapped at the glass. The students were confused as to why some weird lady was trying to get in but before they can act on it, she opened her eyes- or not. She didn't have any eyes. They were just two empty, lonely, black holes. The students didn't have much time to react before the eyeless woman raised her fist and broke the glass. When she did so, the lights went out. Sun-Hi was about to wash her hands when the lights went out. She must've been hard of hearing or something, because she didn't hear the screams of her classmates from the library. When Sun-Hi finished washing her hands, she made her way back to the library, only to be met with the corpses of her friends strewn across the room- all in one piece, luckily. Some were on filing cabinets, others on tables, and some on the floor. Before Sun-Hi can get out of there like a sane person would, she heard footsteps coming from the hallway and, thinking quickly, threw herself onto the floor and played dead. Possums would be proud of her. She heard a person shuffling around the room, muttering very quietly, "One, two. One, two..." Curious, Sun-Hi opened her eyes just a little bit to sneak a peak at what was going on. She saw the woman, crouched down in front of her classmates. She closed her eyes once again, afraid, as the woman came closer and closer, still muttering those two words. When it got to her, it went quiet. Sun-Hi waited. And waited. And waited. After a few minutes, Sun-Hi was sure that the lady was gone, and opened her eyes. The woman was still in front of her, and as soon as Sun-Hi opened her eyes, the last thing she saw was the woman's bony fingers headed straight for her. As the woman plucked out Sun-Hi's eyeballs, she cried out, "One, two!" Beauty- the majority of people want it. Sometimes, it's just not worth it. Despite this, people go through a lot of stuff for it. For example, a girl in Korea. Obsessed with her own beauty, she desperately sought after many products that will help her remain beautiful. Eventually, she found something that should help her skin become silky and soft. However, this thing was online, I don't know if you guys trust online stuff, written by an anon user, but I...probably will, honestly, because I'm gullible. The girl trusted this person and tried this online lifesaver for herself. She locked herself in the bathroom for a really long time until her mother came knocking at the door, telling her to come out for dinner. The girl replied, "Just a minute!" and the mother waited a bit before eventually going back to try and get the girl to come out. The girl replied the same, saying, "Just a minute!" and the mother, a little irritated and worried, waited just a little bit more before trying again and getting the same results. The mother, fed up with her daughter's replies of "Just a minute
!" eventually opened the door and barged into the bathroom. Her daughter, gone mad with grief, was sitting in the corner and picking the sesame seeds that had burrowed into her skin pores out with a toothpick. She put sesame seeds in her bath and let it soak for at least an hour, and by that time they had already buried itself in her skin. The main idea here is: Stay away from sesame seeds and don't be vain. So, obviously, surgery costs a lot of money, meaning it should have good results, right? Not in this case. This Korean urban legend showcases, you guessed it, surgery. A Korean woman had some sort of problem with her right eye, making her blind in that eye. Obviously, I'm not a doctor of any kind, but I'm pretty sure that it had to do with the cornea. Anyway, she got a transplant and, hallelujah, she can see with both eyes. Problem solved, right? Nope. Nothing is that simple. Eventually, she stopped going to work/school and her family members stopped seeing her. Worried, they went into her house to find her. They found her, alright, but not in the condition that they hoped she'd be in. She committed suicide by slitting her wrist, and she bled to death. All the mirrors in the house were broken, presumably by her. When searching her house, the police found her diary. Normally, diaries are for complaining about stuff and people that we don't like and dumb stuff like that, but what the woman had in there was crazy. Over and over again, filling the whole page, she wrote, 'My right eye is staring at me.' Freaky.
If you haven't figured it out, and you're confused about this story, the woman was used to not being able to see with her right eye and only seeing with her left. Naturally, not being used to it, she got spooked by being able to see herself through her right eye, and she eventually went insane and killed herself. Obviously, things aren't what they seem to be. What may seem good may be really, really bad. Sort of like a disaster in disguise. |
