In Korea, academics matter. Like, a lot. Often times, parents pressure their child to study and get really good grades. Some students study so late that they end up falling asleep in class the next day. Yikes. That's not very good. Since we're on the subject, I'm going to do this blog post a little differently and just say the moral right now. Don't overwork yourself. Ever.
Anyways, back to the urban legend. This gruesome tale starts with a girl named Sun-Hi studying very late at night with her friends in the school library. The school was dark, so the only lights that were on were the lights in the library. A little eerie, sure, but it's nothing that'll cause harm, right? After a lot of studying, Sun-Hi had to go tinkle and made her way towards the bathroom. Meanwhile, while Sun-Hi was doing her business, the students noticed a strange, yet faint tapping sound that came from the library window. Outside was a pale and gaunt woman, her eyes tightly shut and her face pressed against the window as her bony and pale finger tapped at the glass. The students were confused as to why some weird lady was trying to get in but before they can act on it, she opened her eyes- or not. She didn't have any eyes. They were just two empty, lonely, black holes. The students didn't have much time to react before the eyeless woman raised her fist and broke the glass. When she did so, the lights went out. Sun-Hi was about to wash her hands when the lights went out. She must've been hard of hearing or something, because she didn't hear the screams of her classmates from the library. When Sun-Hi finished washing her hands, she made her way back to the library, only to be met with the corpses of her friends strewn across the room- all in one piece, luckily. Some were on filing cabinets, others on tables, and some on the floor. Before Sun-Hi can get out of there like a sane person would, she heard footsteps coming from the hallway and, thinking quickly, threw herself onto the floor and played dead. Possums would be proud of her. She heard a person shuffling around the room, muttering very quietly, "One, two. One, two..." Curious, Sun-Hi opened her eyes just a little bit to sneak a peak at what was going on. She saw the woman, crouched down in front of her classmates. She closed her eyes once again, afraid, as the woman came closer and closer, still muttering those two words. When it got to her, it went quiet.
After a few minutes, Sun-Hi was sure that the lady was gone, and opened her eyes.
The woman was still in front of her, and as soon as Sun-Hi opened her eyes, the last thing she saw was the woman's bony fingers headed straight for her.
As the woman plucked out Sun-Hi's eyeballs, she cried out,
